Luis Saez, who was hit with a 15-day suspension for his ride in the 2019 Kentucky Derby, has filed an appeal and requested a stay of the sentence, according to the Daily Racing Form's Matt Hegarty.
According to Hegarty, the appeal alleges the stewards did not conduct a thorough investigation of the incident in the race's final turn, which resulted in the disqualification of Maximum Security.
The appeal also states that stewards did not conclude Saez failed to control Maximum Security intentionally or through carelessness or incompetence.
Until the appeal is resolved, Saez's attorney requests a stay of the suspension.
