Portland Meadows, billed by The Stronach Group as “one of the largest tracks in the Pacific Northwest” is set to close its doors, according to reports from Portland Monthly and Willamette Weekly. The publications obtained a copy of an application for initial redevelopment for the site, which indicates the 63-acre property will become an “urban logistics facility.” Portland Monthly reports the track will close by June.
The redevelopment application was filed March 20.
Opened in 1946, Portland Meadows offers both Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing. It was the first track to offer night racing and also became known as a popular concert venue for major acts.
The Stronach Group acquired a portion of the property in 2011 along with the racing permit.
