Final figures were down slightly at Los Alamitos at the end of the recent eight-date meet, according to a report from the Daily Racing Form.
Average daily handle this year was $3.85 million, down from $4.20 million last year, though officials say measuring handle by daily averages results in date-to-date comparisons may not be one-to-one.
Field size also declined slightly from 7.5 horses to 7.44 horses per race.
Excessive rain and the downgrading of the Los Alamitos Futurity from a Grade 1 to a Grade 2 put a damper on the meet. Los Al officials told the Form they are “generally pleased” with the way the meet went.
