The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board says subsidies to racetrack purses fell 16.7 percent in 2010 compared to a year earlier after the state legislature diverted a portion of the racing industry's share of slot machine revenues to Pennylvania's general fund.
Subsidies to breeders' funds also declined, even though the state's casinos saw an increase in gambling revenues. Under current law, a portion of slot machine revenues will continue to go toward the general fund – at least for the next two years.
