According to an article in the Daily Racing Form, officials from Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, Inc., which owns Parx Racing and the Parx casino, haven't confirmed that they are seeking an outside company to manage the horse racing side of the operation. However, not only has the PTHA expressed interest, The Stronach Group may also be in the mix.
The casino located at Parx is one of the most successful on the East Coast, according to the report. However, in order for Greenwood Gaming to operate it, they must also hold the track's racing license.
“When we found out The Stronach Group was talking to Parx about an agreement to run the racing, I contacted Parx management on behalf of the PTHA and told them we would like have the same discussion,” said Sal DeBunda, president of the PTHA. “They agreed, and we will be meeting with them for preliminary talks in the near future.
