NYRA Set to Deploy AmTote System, Betting Terminals

With the goal of enhancing fans' self-service wagering experience, The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will employ a new system and betting terminals from AmTote International across a suite of platforms throughout its racetracks beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3.

AmTote is constructing three Customer Learning Centers at Belmont Park and Aqueduct Racetrack that will be manned with knowledgeable staff to help fans quickly become accustomed to the new terminal user interface, the mobile application, and the processes for moving between the platforms.

The transition to AmTote wagering platforms at Belmont Park and Aqueduct Racetrack will begin immediately following the conclusion of the race meet at Saratoga Race Course on Sept. 2.

Following a careful selection and regulatory approval process, a long-term contract was signed with AmTote to deploy approximately 1,800 total terminals providing self-serve and teller operations. In addition, the company is deploying new self-service terminals for on-site account wagering. In select VIP areas at Aqueduct, dozens of wireless, tablet computers will be deployed featuring an embedded wagering interface.

AmTote's on-track mobile wagering device, MBet, will be incorporated into NYRA's existing mobile and wireless capabilities and throughout the NYRA Rewards platform.

The Customer Learning Center booths at Belmont and Aqueduct will provide a relaxed and convenient way to familiarize fans with the new terminal interface. Staffers will provide assistance with the terminals, pointers on navigation and also distribute free gifts.

Additionally, easily identifiable uniformed staff will be available throughout September in wagering areas and near mutuel lines at the racetracks to assist customers in using the terminals. AmTote and NYRA have jointly produced a video detailing the bet-making process, and the NYRA program each day will feature an informational page illustrating the simple steps for betting on the new self-service terminals.

NYRA mutuel tellers also have received intensive training to learn the new system, and they participated in a proficiency exercise to hone their skills on the new equipment. AmTote officials will also be available to help staff mutuel lines to further assist the tellers.

Along with NYRA, AmTote also provides wagering systems at Gulfstream Park, the Maryland Jockey Club, Woodbine Entertainment Group and Oaklawn Park.
