No White House Visit For American Pharoah

In July, Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY) wrote a formal letter to President Barack Obama, urging him to hold a White House ceremony to honor Triple Crown winner American Pharoah (and his humans).

Tonko, whose district includes Saratoga, wrote in the letter that “welcoming athletes who have reached the pinnacle of their sport to the White House is a time-honored tradition.” Over the years, many jockeys have visited the White House, but never a Thoroughbred horse.

Unfortunately, it appears as though that won't be changing – according to a report by WNYT-13, Tonko's office received a phone call from the White House last week, notifying them their request “could not be fulfilled.”
