New York reported a general increase in revenues from the state's racinos in 2013, but overall figures indicate that the growth was much slower than in previous years.
According to an article in The Saratogian, six of the state's nine racinos reported increases in revenue; the other three reported declines. The biggest performer in the state was Aqueduct's Resort World Casino, which reported a 17.6 percent increase in revenue from the previous year.
The racinos located in upstate New York showed somewhat mixed results. Saratoga Casino & Raceway did report an increase, but revenue was up just 0.6 percent. Officials for the Saratoga casino and for Vernon Downs Casino & Raceway believed that part of that was due to inclement weather.
“The last few weeks, we've also had how much snow?” Rita Cox, Saratoga casino's vice president of marketing said. “Any how many days of single-digit weather. That impacts everyone.”
