A report in the Asbury Park Press on Tuesday indicated that lawyers for Jorge Navarro and Jason Servis plan to plead not guilty to the federal doping charges brought against the trainers last week.
Both trainers are charged with misbranding conspiracy, Servis with one count and Navarro with two counts.
According to the report, Navarro and Servis combined for 19 horse deaths at Monmouth Park since 2010. Navarro trained 12 horses who suffered catastrophic injuries at Monmouth, the highest total of any trainer during the same period. Servis had the second-highest number at seven.
These deaths were not listed in last week's federal indictment, but the two are stabled next to one another at Monmouth each summer.
