Tatiana Schoeppler, the reigning Ms. Racing Queen, said in a recent interview with America's Best Racing that although she was a casual fan of the sport before she won her title, she has come to fall in love with racing even more thanks to her experience as an ambassador for racing via the Stronach Group.
At 26 years old, Schoeppler has directed a non-profit organization aimed at improving the life of young cancer patients, served as a NHL Tampa Bay Lightning Girl Cheerleader, and been a residential and commercial real estate agent before entering the Ms. Racing Queen competition. She had been to the track and watched Seabiscuit (still her favorite racehorse), but Schoeppler said she didn't realize what a strong team surrounds each racehorse, especially the backstretch workers, who she hadn't had the opportunity to meet as a casual fan.
Based in Los Angeles, she has spent considerable time at Santa Anita Park in her capacity as a sport ambassador and is finding herself cheering for California connections such as Doug O'Neill and Kevin Krigger.
“I'd like to publicize that the racetrack is here and that the racing is amazing. I'd like to help highlight that this is a thrilling sport and [young people] should come out and attend,” said Schoeppler. “This is a fantastic sport with instant gratification. We watch baseball and we watch football and all of these different team events, and there really is a team that's behind these horses. It takes a team to get these horses to run across the finish line, and that's appealing.”
