Yavapai Downs owner Gary Miller continues to struggle with his plans to open the Arizona track. Miller, who bought the indebted track, said he has still not secured financing to do the necessary repairs to the facility.

Miller has been able to reopen a neighboring dirt racecar track and event center near Yavapai Downs, both of which are doing well but major repairs are still needed to the track's grandstand.

In the meantime, the lawsuit between Yavapai Downs federal bankruptcy trustee and the track's former board of directors has again been delayed. The suit accuses the board of poor management leading to the track's 2011 bankruptcy.

Miller's next projected opening date for the track will be Memorial Day 2014. The Yavapai County Fair will not take place at the track this fall as he had originally hoped.

Here is an investor who wants to do the right thing…and has a slippery, 50-foot high brick wall to scale. This is where career politicians can actually do their jobs and step to the plate with public/private support of the plan. How many financial service operations/organizations have lobbyists wandering around the state capital?
