Northville Downs in Michigan announced on Friday that the track has signed a long-term lease to continue harness racing operations through 2024. A previous announcement in 2018 had indicated that the land would be sold and redeveloped into high-end housing, reports clickondetroit.com, but the new lease will continue operations at the Northville location.
“We look forward to a bright future which keeps us steadfast on leading the way to bring positive changes to the racing industry in Michigan,” reads the statement released by the track. “We will continue working with our legislators and our regulators toward a brighter future for all our race fans, our horsemen and affiliated groups in Michigan. With 76 years of business behind us now, we are optimistic about what the next 76 years will bring us!”
Live harness racing starts on March 20 at 7:30 p.m. and will continue every Friday and Saturday through June 20.
