Bob Baffert's undefeated Triple Crown Champion Justify, who returned to Santa Anita on Sunday, will be the subject of a beautiful Triple Crown poster which will be given away free with paid admission, to the first 4,000 attendees this Saturday, June 23. Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to sign these posters adjacent to the Kingsbury Fountain, in the West Paddock Gardens area.
Justify, who will parade through Santa Anita's Paddock Gardens and onto the main track and Winner's Circle between races four and five on Saturday, will be accompanied in the Winner's Circle by both Baffert and Smith. The collector's item poster depicts the magnificent chestnut son of Scat Daddy winning the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes.
Approximate post time for Saturday's fourth race is at 1:40 p.m. PT.
Unbeaten in three starts at The Great Race Place, beginning with a 9 1/2-length first-out maiden score at seven furlongs on Feb. 18, Justify became the 17th winner of the Santa Anita Derby to win the Kentucky Derby and in winning the mile and one half Belmont on June 9, he not only became the 13th Triple Crown winner, he joined Seattle Slew as only the second undefeated Triple Crown champion.
Owned by WinStar Farm, China Horse Club, Head of Plains Partners, LLC and Starlight Racing, Justify, who won the Belmont just 111 days after breaking his maiden, also became the first Kentucky Derby winner since Apollo in 1882 to have not started at age 2.
Perfect through six starts, Justify, who is out of the Ghostzapper mare Stage Magic, has amassed earnings of $3,798,000. By virtue of his pedigree, race record and imposing physicality, Justify is thought to be worth between $75 million and $100 million as a stallion prospect—which is helping to fuel intense speculation as to when and where his next start may come.
In order to accommodate Justify's appearance on Saturday, Santa Anita has announced there will be an early first post time of 12 noon. Admission gates will open at 10 a.m. for a 12-race program.
