Jockey Nik Juarez has been suspended for 15 days by New York stewards, according to drf.com. The rider was disqualified from seventh to last in Saturday's G2 Wood Memorial, when he and his mount Joevia cut over to the rail from the far outside post position and impeded several riders.
Juarez was also fined $2,500 for the infraction. His suspension could be reduced to 10 days if he waives his right to appeal.
According to Jimmy Edwards, Aqueduct's Jockey Club steward, Juarez was “apologetic” and “knew he was wrong.”
