The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will unveil a juried photography exhibition in 2019 called Photo Finish. The Museum is now accepting submissions of photography work by both amateur and professional photographers in relation to thoroughbred racing in America.
There is no limitation to the type of photos that can be considered. Racing scenes, portraits (both human and equine), whimsical, morning workouts, retired racehorses, etc., are all welcome; it is up to the photographer to interpret the theme and be as creative as possible. A panel of judges representing both the racing and arts communities will select the photographs for the inaugural exhibition, which will open on Jan.19, 2019 in the von Stade Gallery.
Application forms will be available at the Museum Front Desk, at each Photo Finish backstretch photography tour and can be downloaded from our website here: https://www.racingmuseum.org/photo-finish-juried-photography-exhibition
If you have any questions, please contact Museum Curator Victoria Reisman at [email protected] or (518) 584-0400 ext. 113.
The Photo Finish juried photography exhibition call for submissions coincides with our annual backstretch photograph tour offerings, the Photo Finish Tour. Three professional racing photographers will take a small group on a tour of the Oklahoma Training Track and teach participants about lighting, composition and developing your own artist's eye. These 60-minute tours are available for ages 10 and older and must be booked and paid for in advance. This year's tours will be led by Dona Ann McAdams (Saturday, July 21), Tod Marks (Sunday, Aug.12), and Sharon Castro (Monday, Aug. 13). Please call (518) 584-0400 ext. 120 to reserve your spot today.
