Indiana Grand Racing & Casino opens its 120-day meet Tuesday and officials are looking forward to another solid season.
As the Daily Racing Form reports, since the facility became the state's lone Thoroughbred track three years ago, its position in the region has become stronger.
According to the DRF, field size during the 2015 meet increased slightly, from 8.15 in 2014 to 8.5 starters per race last year, and it's expected to increase again this year. Average daily overnight purses were $220,000 last year and will be the same this season.
Indiana Grand will race four days per week – Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday – but will add Thursday cards from July 7 through Aug. 25.
