The Daily Racing Form reports that racing official and placing judge Dave Zenner was fired from his post at Gulfstream Park, following an incident on Sunday. The sixth race, won by Miss Munnings, resulted in a dead heat for second, and the placing judges keyed in the wrong horse as the fourth-place finisher (2, rather than 1).
The mistake was only live for a few minutes before it was caught and corrected, and no announcement regarding the superfecta wagering was made. It is unknown whether Gulfstream paid bettors on the incorrect combination, but the combination of either 6-7-4-1 or 6-4-7-1 paid $2.68 and $4.61, respectively.
The other placing judge on duty during the time of the error, Mary Peterman, was not terminated by The Stronach Group, however she has not been serving as a placing judge since the incident.
