Several equine injuries – a few of them fatal – have raised concerns at this year's Del Mar meet, which is just entering its second week.

On Saturday, three horses suffered injuries during morning training hours, causing trainer Richard Mandella to postpone Beholder's scheduled work until Sunday.

In a recent news segment for San Diego's CBS 8, Dominic Garcia reported that seven horses have been euthanized because of injuries that have occurred during the meet. Garcia speaks with Del Mar president Joe Harper about the breakdowns, and what the facility is doing in order to try and prevent more from happening. He also interviews an activist that was outside the racetrack, protesting the treatment of the horses.
