A Louisiana circuit court has upheld the fines and suspensions issued by the Louisiana Racing Commission in two cases at Evangeline Downs that involved the painkiller dermorphin.
According to a report in the Daily Racing Form, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans upheld the suspensions of trainers Anthony Agilar and Kyi Lormand. The trainers each had horses in their care test positive for the illegal painkiller in May 2012. Agilar and Lormand were each suspended three years and fined $2,500.
The suspensions were to start June 24 and run through June 23, 2016.
