William Shanklin, who has recently been brought on by the Blood-Horse to improve their opinion writing, comes out of the box with a real doozy of a viewpoint by posing the question, “Could Churchill Downs move to Indiana?” My first instinct was to laugh at the idea but his rational is strong and the precedent is there for all major objections.

We would suggest that David Williams and friends take a long look at this viewpoint and realize that it's more possible than any of us would like to think. Are political futures worth the identity of our state? There's no indication from CDI that they would be willing or able to consider a move at this point, but hopefully this is a wake up call to all those who seem to take our signature industry for granted.
