In what proved to be a very entertaining exchange on Saturday, @ClubHawthorne, Hawthorne Racecourse's official Twitter account, engaged in a conversation with the Twitter account Nunya (@playingponies). It all began with an innocent promotional post by Jim Miller (@HawthorneJim):
Track fast for races Saturday @ClubHawthorne
— Jim Miller (@HawthorneJim) December 19, 2015
The operator of the Nunya account responded incredulously:
Rather than ignore the comment, Club Hawthorne decided to engage the heckler, posting that “We are glad to see that you apparently follow our races since you know our wagering minimums!”
The conversation went on for approximately 10 posts, and one of Club Hawthorne's cleverest posts was in response to Nunya's suggestion that the track's demographic was “garbage:”

The conversation concluded with a reference to the “King,” Burger King, and an outside suggestion that the exchange receive a “Beemie” Award, an online awards show which pokes fun at various horse racing big shots.
