The Daily Racing Form reports that jockey Chantal Sutherland-Kruse, best known for piloting Game On Dude in his 2011 Santa Anita Handicap victory, plans to move her tack to Canada for the start of Woodbine's season on April 12. A familiar face in Southern California, Sutherland-Kruse has four wins from 40 starts in this current Santa Anita meeting, and hopes “to ride and do well.”
The 38-year-old rider is a native of Canada, and started her career at Woodbine, so she is entirely familiar with this location. Her husband, Dan Kruse, is native to Southern California, and Sutherland-Kruse expressed that there may be a bit of commuting back and forth – “him more than me.” She moved to Southern California in 2011.
Sutherland-Kruse will travel to Woodbine on Monday, April 7, and begin working horses the next day in preparation for the start of the meet.
