Jockey Joao Moreira, a three-time champion rider in Singapore, capped off his whirlwind U.S. tour at Churchill Downs on Monday, where he rode Judy the Beauty to a second-place finish in the G3 Winning Colors Stakes.
Moreira traveled to the U.S. to ride for trainer Wesley Ward, riding at Arlington Park on Saturday before heading to Churchill for races on Sunday and Monday. While at Arlington, Moreira finished second aboard Sisterhood in the G3 Arlington Matron, and fifth on Procurement in the G3 Arlington Classic.
Moreira, a native of Brazil, had a good day at Churchill on Sunday, finishing third in an allowance race before winning the last race of the day aboard a 25-1 shot for Ward.
As for now, Moreira will return to Singapore, but hopes to ride in the U.S. again, maybe on a permanent basis, according to In the Money.
“If there is really an opportunity for me (to ride in the U.S.), I will definitely grab it,” Moreira said.
