Fellow jockeys, friends and family members remembered Michael Baze as kind-hearted and warm during a memorial Thursday at Hollywood Park. His wife, Kelly, also spoke about his personal troubles before the crowd of 125.
“He had fallen on hard times recently and was battling depression,” she said. “He decided it was best we separate. He wanted the best for me and felt he couldn't give it. It was a very unselfish act.”
