The Stronach Group COO Tim Ritvo gave an interview to Off to the Races this Saturday, discussing the polarizing idea of moving the Preakness from Pimlico to Laurel Park in Maryland. According to theracingbiz.com, TSG employed the Sage Policy Group consulting firm to analyze how a Laurel-based Preakness would affect the city of Baltimore.

“That study basically says Baltimore won't lose out,” Ritvo said. “I know they don't want to hear that. But from an economic standpoint, people will stay in Baltimore… [W]e just don't think it's going to be the effect that they think it is.”

TSG's plan for Laurel involves a “super-track” with a training center at Bowie and an entertainment center, like “Gulfstream on steroids,” said Ritvo.
