BAFFERT PUTS PRESSURE ON DEL MAR TO DITCH POLYTRACK

Perhaps chief among the outspoken critics of Del Mar's Polytrack surface has been Bob Baffert. Now that Santa Anita has said it will revert back to dirt, he is putting the pressure on Del Mar to follow suit or lose his stable of horses to another track starting next summer.

“They always say they're not going to do it, but if they don't do it, they'll see the quality of the racing continue to decline here,” Baffert said in an article in the San Diego Union-Tribune. “Right now, this track is different every day. I thought it was better last year than this year. But I quit complaining about it.”

And what does Baffert say he will do next year if things don't change? “I'll go back East” (as if there is any other direction you can go from California).

Can you say ruh-roh?
