Former Godolphin trainer Mahmood al Zarooni has withdrawn his appeal of the eight-year ban he received for administering performance-enhancing steroids to 15 horses in his care.

The Sporting Life reported that the British Horseracing Authority received word early Wednesday from Al Zarooni's attorneys that the former conditioner had decided to withdraw the appeal.

Godolphin's remaining trainer, Saeed Bin Suroor, was recently licensed by the BHA to operate both his own yard and Al Zarooni's Moulton Paddocks. Altogether, Bin Suroor now has a total of around 400 horses in his care.

That he even filed an appeal is remarkable. He must be one heck of a horse’s *** (in which case, he’s even incapable of training himself).
