After-The-Wire Interference In Belmont Derby Costs Boudot 15 Days

Pierre-Charles Boudot finished fifth aboard Kingstar in the Grade 1 Belmont Derby, but an incident after the wire has cost the jockey a 15-day suspension, according to racingpost.com. In the head-on replay, Kingstar can be seen drifting toward the rail and into the path of sixth-place finisher Maraud and jockey John Velazquez.

NYRA stewards handed down the suspension for “gross careless riding and extremely unprofessional riding.”

Boudot's suspension will take place from July 17 through July 31. The jockey's decision not to appeal allowed him to nominated for both the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Prix de Psyche.
