Reade Baker, a 57-year-old native of Port Dalhousie, Ontario, with a racing career spanning four decades notched his 1000th career win when Behold the Bear wired the opening race of Sunday's Woodbine Oaks day card.
“This is my third career on the racetrack. I've been a jockey's agent, racing manager and now a trainer so it's nice to hit this milestone as I haven't been doing it my whole career. It makes me feel good,” said Baker.
Of Baker's 1000 career wins, 115 have come in stakes events of which 27 were graded affairs.
“Winning 115 stakes races is very important to me,” noted the conditioner.
Behold the Bear, expertly handled by Emma-Jayne Wilson, paid $5.80 to win.
