Lynn Whiting, who saddled 1992 Kentucky Derby winner Lil E. Tee, is currently undergoing physical therapy after suffering a stroke in February.

The Daily Racing Form's Marty McGee reports that Whiting hopes to be back at his barn at Churchill Downs within a week or so. Whiting had been hospitalized for six weeks.

Speaking with McGee by phone Wednesday morning, Whiting said that he was “getting along alright”, but “I don't have any blue ribbons hanging off me just yet. I kinda lost my edge for a little bit there.”

One of the last of the “old time” trainers. Knows every hair on each horse he trains. Top notch guy!

Good luck on his recovery. Back in 1992 one of my friends, a very good handicapper, picked Lil E. Tee to win the Kentucky Derby because “it was Pat Day’s time to win it”. He cleaned up.

Get well soon Lynn !!! I walked horses for him at Rockingham Park when he use to win a lot of the stake races there in the 70’s . He had some very good horses.
