With a win aboard Avanzare in Saturday's Arcadia Stakes, Gary Stevens brought his total number of North American career victories to 4,999.
According to Equibase, the veteran rider has one mount on Sunday; he rides Empty Headed in Race 7, the $25,000 Super Bowl Party Handicap.
Stevens' first win was in 1979 and soon took the fast track to success, winning several classic and Breeders' Cup races. He was inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame in 1997. Stevens retired from the saddle in 2005, but staged a successful comeback in 2013, winning the Preakness and the Breeders' Cup Classic and Distaff that year.
Through the first month of 2015, Stevens has seven wins from 35 starts and sits 26th in the national jockey standings with earnings of $483,340.
Equibase statistics do not include wins by Stevens when he rode in Europe or Asia.
