Peter J. Fluor and Kane C. Weiner, which operate Speedway Stables, LLC, have joined the Water Hay Oats Alliance in support of horse racing medication reform in the United States.

Fluor's and Weiner's fathers were partners in the thoroughbred racing business in the 60's and 70's.  Peter's father, J. Robert Fluor, was also Commissioner of Racing for the State of California for several years, and his stable included an ownership in the European Horse of the Year, Alleged.

In 2014, the two friends and business associates formed Houston-based Speedway Stables, LLC and have campaigned Grade One stakes winners Leigh Court and Hard Not To Like in 2015.

“Speedway Stables is pleased to join WHOA in support of federal legislation to prohibit the use of performance enhancing drugs in the sport of American horse racing.”

“K.C. and I and our families have been around the thoroughbred racing industry for half a century.” said Fluor. “We believe a fundamental tenant of this great sport, as well as any successful business enterprise, begins with a level playing field for all parties.”

“We are pleased to join like-minded horsemen in supporting the WHOA mission which can only elevate the integrity and credibility of thoroughbred racing.” Weiner stated.

Another reason for me to cheer for Hard Not To Like this Saturday!

Why? He runs on Lasix. Trainer Clement must not belong to WHOA.

He probably does that for the same reason that Europeans run on Lasix when they come here, i.e to decrease the chances of the horse bleeding during a race when all the other competitors are on lasix.
