Trainer Dale Romans won't be packing his bags and heading overseas to Hong Kong in the near future.
The Eclipse Award-winning trainer took a few moments on Wednesday afternoon to respond to an article published earlier this week in the South China Morning Post in which he was critical of North American racing. In that interview, Romans said that “I'm ready for an adventure, and I'm so sick of what's happened to the sport in the U.S. I'm done with it.”
On Wednesday, Romans clarified his comments in an interview with the Daily Racing Form.
“There isn't a person around who believes I said that stuff,” Romans said. “I would never knock American racing.”
Romans said that he meant that he was tired of dealing with all the bureaucracy – “When I said I was tired and done with this, I was talking about labor boards, immigration department … not horse racing.”
