Ricardo Santana, Jr. won not only five races in a day, he won five stakes races on a single card, all at Remington Park on Sunday. The card featured the biggest race of the Remington Park meet, the Oklahoma Derby (G3), as well as the Remington Park Oaks (G3) and eight additional undercard stakes.
Santana had a mount in each of the ten stakes races. He started with a win in the $75,000 Kip Deville stakes with B. B. Dude ($12.40), then returned two races later to win the $50,000 E. L. Gaylord Memorial Stakes with Adventurous Lady ($4.20).
Santana's next win came in the $175,000 Governor's Cup with Hence ($4.40); the winning pair sat far out of the race before a wide sweeping move brought them to the wire over three lengths ahead of Forevamo and post-time favorite Shotgun Kowboy.
He was aboard the favorite, She's a Julie ($3.80) for their win against nine other 3-year-old fillies in the $200,000 Remington Park Oaks (G3). Finally, he and Adore ($6.40) won the last race on the card, the $75,000 Ricks Memorial, in a wire-to-wire win in a full field of 12 fillies and mares on the turf.
He also finished second in the Flashy Lady Stakes and fourth in the Oklahoma Derby with Combatant. On Saturday, he won the $100,000 Jefferson Cup at Churchill Downs with Hot Springs ($6.60).
