Race for Education President to Run for Congress

U.S. Congress will be deciding whether or not to fund USDA inspections of horse slaughter facilities

Elisabeth Jensen, President of the Race for Education and a Lexington Democrat, confirmed in a recent interview with Pure Politics that she will run for Congress in 2014 in Ky.'s 6th District for the chance to challenge Republican Andy Barr.

Jensen indicated that her first fundraiser will be on July 8, and will by hosted by Tracy and Carol Farmer.

Jensen has been very active with the Democratic Party in Kentucky. According to Pure Politics she has volunteered for Democratic campaigns in Central Kentucky, and graduated in 2011 from Emerge Kentucky, a program aimed at training Democratic women for political leadership posts.

Jensen has taken a month-long hiatus from her position as President of the Race for Education in order to focus on fundraising and preparing for her campaign.
