Trainer Ken McPeek has booked jockey Olivier Peslier to ride G1 Kentucky Oaks runner-up Daddys Lil Darling in the G1 Investec Oaks June 2.
The Racing Post reports that McPeek announced the news Thursday, where he was speaking at the Pan American Conference in Washington, D.C.
“Julien Leparoux rode her when she was second in the Kentucky Oaks, but he's not familiar with Epsom, so Olivier Peslier is going to ride, and he'll go from France to Epsom about a week out to get to know her,” McPeek said.
McPeek then went on to say, “The course is extremely tricky, uphill and downhill, and to bring a U.S. jockey who's not been there before wouldn't have been right. It was a no-brainer to bring in Olivier. I don't want a jockey who's never been there.”
