After reaching a career milestone with his 4,000th race win, Chris Emigh was named Jockeys' Guild Foundation Detox Jockey of the Week for July 1-7, 2019. The award is voted on by a panel of experts for riding accomplishments by members of the Jockeys' Guild, the organization which represents more than 950 riders in North America. Jockey of the Week is sponsored by FoundationDetox.com, America's #1 Equine Toxin Remover.
With 3,999 lifetime wins under his belt, Chris Emigh came to the track on July 4 with six opportunities to snag his 4,000th career win, but it only took one race. Emigh won the opening race on the Independence Day holiday card at Arlington Park to reach his career milestone.
Emigh's milestone victory came aboard Mr. Haney ($7.40) for trainer Eduardo Rodriguez. Mr. Haney is owned by Ismael Thoroughbreds, LLC and was bred by Charles Galli.
Emigh won his next mount as well in the fourth race and picked up five wins over the course of the week. He has won 61 of his 322 starts in 2019 and has ridden in over 29,000 races. He finished in the money on over half of his 21 mounts and added $76,105 to his total earnings.
In his career to date, Emigh has earned over $79 million in purse money and is a multiple graded stakes winner whose stakes wins include the Rebel, Miss Preakness, Hawthorne Derby and Hawthorne Gold Cup.
Emigh is the third all-time rider by wins at Arlington and is fifth by wins in the current meet.
