Kentucky Senate committee approves casino bill on 7-4 vote

The Kentucky Senate's State and Local Government Committee voted 7-4 in favor of SB151, a constitutional amendment that would put a question on the November ballot authorizing up to seven casinos in the state. The bill will be heard next on the Senate floor.

The Kentucky casino bill, Senate Bill 151, will have its hearing in front of the Senate's State and Local Government Committee today at noon. Primary Senate sponsor, Republican Damon Thayer, will chair the committee meeting and Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear will testify on its behalf.

The best way for those who want to support SB 151 is to call your legislators and of course be sure to attend Wednesday's hearing, which takes place in Room 154 of the Capitol Annex building in Frankfort. Numbers speak volumes so those who don't have to be on their farm or in their office today should consider swinging by Frankfort. And you bosses out there who care about this issue? We're not saying give an extra long lunch break around 11:30, but there are worse things you could do.
