Sari's Tiger rallied from far back under red-hot Kevin Krigger and scored a 2 ¾-length victory Saturday in the $13,600 Muckleshoot Casino Purse for 3-year-old fillies at Emerald Downs.
For Krigger, who began riding here Friday, the victory capped off a second consecutive three-win night for the 35-year-old native of the Virgin Islands. Krigger is No. 16 all-time with 348 wins at Emerald Downs and needs 11 wins to reach 1,000 wins in North America
Sari's Tiger ran one mile in 1:40.62 and paid $20.60, $7 and $5.40. Steve Bullock, saddling his 300th career winner at Emerald Downs, is the winning trainer for owner/breeder Dr. Rodney Orr of Silverton, Oregon.
Classic Leah, ridden by Gary Wales, led to deep stretch and was overhauled late by the winner. The runner-up returned $6.80 and $4.60.
Fortune in Silk, a 13-1 long shot ridden by Javier Matias, held third and paid $6.80 to show, while Slingshot Mistress, Sadie Sue, Oursugarshack and Someday Special completed the order of finish. Lulumaru was scratched earlier in the day.
An Oregon-bred by Smiling Tiger-Sariano, Sari's Tiger is 3-5-2 in 15 career starts with earnings of $50,086. She won a pair of stakes last fall at Portland Meadows.
