Woodbine-based rider Luis Contreras reached a milestone July 1 when he notched his 1,000th North American-career victory in the third race on the program. According to the Blood-Horse, Contreras guided Ifimlyinimdyin to a head victory in the six-furlong claiming contest.
The 27-year-old native of Mexico City began riding in 2006. Since that time, his mounts have earned $40.5 million. Some of Contreras' mounts have included Inglorious, winner of the 2011 Queen's Plate and Woodbine Oaks, and Delegation, who captured the Dominion Day Stakes July 1.
