Hall of Fame jockey Javier Castellano will ride Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile winner Spun to Run in Saturday's Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park, reports drf.com. Trainer Juan Carlos Guerrero made the announcement on Tuesday, after the 4-year-old son of Hard Spun breezed a half mile in :47.51 at Palm Meadows.
“I didn't think he went that fast, but he makes it look so easy,” Guerrero told drf.com.
Irad Ortiz, Jr. rode Spun to Run in his last two starts, the Breeders' Cup victory and the Cigar Mile, in which the colt was second behind Maximum Security. For the Pegasus, Ortiz has elected to ride Bob Baffert trainee Mucho Gusto.
