The Daily Racing Form reported Wednesday that injured rider Marlon St. Julien continues to make steady improvement after suffering a spinal cord injury in a fall May 19 at Prairie Meadows. The Form‘s Marcus Hersh wrote St. Julien has been moved from Mercy Hospital in Iowa to Craig Hospital in Colorado for more specialized care.
St. Julien is able to walk with assistance and sat up on his own earlier this week for about 90 minutes.
The rider battled pneumonia soon after surgery and had to be intubated, but has now had his breathing tube removed and is better able to communicate.
