Grand National-Winning Trainer Aiming to Make History

The husband and wife team who won last year's Grand National with Auroras Encore are back for more this year, and they're hoping to go down in history. According to The Daily Telegraph, Sue Smith, who trains with her husband Harvey, would be the first since Fred Winter 48 years ago to condition two consecutive Grand National winners.

The Smiths have not let last year's triumph change what they described as their “everyday” lifestyle. They both like their chances for this year's race with Mr Moonshine, who will have 2013's National-winning jockey Ryan Mania on his back. They will also point trainee Vintage Star to the race.

“It was dream land to win it once, isn't it? I mean there's a lot of top men who've never got near. But twice? …” said Sue Harvey.
