Jockey Edgard Zayas is expected to be out of action for four weeks with an index finger injury sustained in a racing mishap at Gulfstream Park West Wednesday. The 26-year-old defending Gulfstream Park West champion was unseated at the start of Wednesday's Race 3 when One Fast stumbled coming out of the gate.
A fracture in his left index finger will keep Zayas out of action during the early weeks of the 2019-2020 Championship Meet at Gulfstream, where he missed the last three months of the 2018-2019 season with a fractured femur.
Zayas has been in the midst of a strong comeback, having won Gulfstream's Summer Meet title with 66 winners and amassing 167 winners in seven months.
