Officials of France Galop conducted a hearing Dec. 4 to determine the severity of the suspension that will be given to jockey Frankie Dettori, who failed a drug test at Longchamp Sept. 16.
Dettori was represented during the 40-minute disciplinary hearing by his lawyer, Christopher Stewart-Moore. France Galop won't deliver a verdict until Wednesday; it is at that time that Dettori's representatives will release a statement.
Stewart-Moore told the press, “We'll be making a statement tomorrow out of respect for France Galop. We had a very sympathetic hearing. Frankie wasn't in the hearing, he did his talking last time. We won't be coming back.”
“This is a strict liability case,” Stewart-Moore added. “Once the substance is found in your system you can't say much about it.”
