Javier Castellano could have it worse as a jockey, choosing between two top Kentucky Derby contenders heading into the Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream Park.  But he still faced a difficult call in deciding which horse to ride in the Feb. 26 race.

Castellano and his agent, Matt Muzikar, tell the Daily Racing Form Castellano will ride Algorithms, trained by Todd Pletcher instead of Michael Matz-trained Union Rags in the Fountain of Youth.  Castellano has also been riding three other Derby contenders trained by Pletcher.

“Javier rides five top Derby prospects, four of which are with one trainer,” Muzikar said. “This was a very tough decision, but Javier and I thought it was the right decision.”

Julien Leparoux has picked up the mount on Union Rags.
