‘What Can I Say For You?’: Durkin Kicks Off New Business Venture

Long-time New York Racing Association track announcer Tom Durkin is preparing to kick off a new business venture from his Saratoga Springs home called “What Can I Say For You?” According to the Saratogian, the business will be set to go in about a month. Durkin has been working to understand the audio recording industry, learning all the ins and outs of the new technology, and hopes to utilize his recognizable voice to his benefit in the new venture.

“The hard part is the learning curve,” Durkin said. “I'm not an audio technician. The technology is much more difficult than I thought it was going to be.”

Durkin has recorded part of a children's book, and hopes to expand his repertoire to museum narratives or even answering machine messages.

“I kind of like being on this side of the glass,” he said.
