Third last out in the Met Mile, Godolphin's Thunder Snow could target major races on both coasts for the remainder of 2019. The 5-year-old son of Helmet is under consideration for either the G1 Whitney at Saratoga (Aug.3) or the G1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar (Aug. 17), trainer Saeed bin Suroor told attheraces.com.
“Thunder Snow is doing well,” Suroor said.”He ran a good race last time – but the trip was too short, and he needs further.
“There were very good milers there, and he ran a huge race. I'm happy with him, and he is doing well.”
In a similar pattern to 2018, Thunder Snow will then target the G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont Park (Sept. 28) before moving on to the Breeders' Cup Classic in early November. Racing in the Classic last fall at Churchill Downs, Thunder Snow finished a solid third behind Acclerate and Gunnevera.
