Bricks and Mortar, winner of five consecutive graded stakes including four Grade 1 races, is likely to train up to the Breeders' Cup and could go in the Mile instead of the Turf, trainer Chad Brown tells the Daily Racing Form.
Unbeaten in 2019 and a clear leader atop the NTRA's top Thoroughbred poll, Bricks and Mortar was last seen winning the G1 Arlington Million on Aug. 10, and Brown suggests there won't be another start before the Breeders' Cup.
“If we put another race into him, it might be a little too much,” Brown told DRF.
Last year's Breeders' Cup Turf winner, Enable, is pointing for a repeat bid in the Arc de Triomphe next month but is not expected to try again for the Arc-Turf double. Still, several European contenders could show up for the Turf and Bricks and Mortar has never gone the distance of that race, 1 1/2 miles.
