Gunnevera was the convincing winner of Saturday's $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot, drawing away by 5 3/4 lengths in the stretch, to enter the points race for the Road to the 2017 Kentucky Derby. Owned by Peacock Racing Stables and trained by Antonio Sano, the 10 points that Gunnevera earned with his victory place him fourth in the overall rankings.
Solidly in first place at the moment is Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Classic Empire, with 30 points to his name. Juvenile runner-up Not This Time has 18 points to be in second, with third-place finisher Practical Joke wrapping up the third position with 14 points.
In the fillies race, Delta Princess victress Shane's Girlfriend earned her first 10 points on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks, taking up fifth position on the leaderboard. In first is Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Champagne Room with 30 points, followed by Daddys Lil Darling (16), Dancing Rags (10) and Yellow Agate (10).
